Avalon Airport offers production companies unique opportunities to access an authentic airport location, and is conveniently located only half an hour from Melbourne’s Docklands film and television precinct.

Avalon has the capacity to accommodate large scale international feature films through to domestic television series and commercials.

Not only can film companies access a broad range of airport facilities both ‘airside’ and ‘landside’, but they also have the benefit of having onsite airport personnel who are professionally trained in safety operations, and very familiar with film shoot production protocol.

From the retired 747 Jumbo jet, to the commercial length taxi-ways, rural open spaces, terminal and large hangar facilities all set against on the majestic back-drop of the You-Yang ranges. Avalon Airport has what you need to make your next production a success.

A JUMBO OF A LOCATION

‘EBU’ is a fully retired 747 Jumbo Jet. The aircraft is not operational and is available exclusively for filming, training and photography purposes.

The aircraft is accessible from the front and the rear, via a set of air stairs and areas in the aircraft available for filming include the cockpit, business & first class and economy class. Seats can be removed for a charge, and seat covers can be tailored to fit the seats by production companies.

Lighting, toilet and change room amenities are to be supplied by the client, and full safety instructions and standards are to be adhered to throughout the production.

Avalon Airport is primarily a commercial airport, and provides runway, taxiway and apron space for general aviation traffic, and our commercial clients.

Access is available to certain areas of the runway and taxiways, these spaces are primarily used for vehicle TVC’s or production action scenes.

At Avalon we also help cater to the needs of the productions staff. Office spaces are available for production offices to set up with unfurnished spaces available for short term lease including:

  • Open plan and private office spaces
  • Boardrooms
  • Kitchenettes
  • Male and female showers, make up mirrors and lighting
  • Phone data cables and connections

From the moment you make an enquiry with Avalon Airport about your production, we are here to help. The teams at Avalon are well regarded for their flexible, ‘can-do’ attitude and aim to make your production as easy as possible. Safety for you and your crew is paramount and full OH&S safely measures are carefully adhered to. Avalon offers location recces free of charge and encourage you to come down and view the facilities so that you have a full understanding of what is available.

I was seeking a very specific location to shoot an Isuzu Trucks TVC spot. Avalon Airport, in all dealings were professional and flexible re: our requests. They adapted a location package – outside of their normal parameters to suit our requirements – which in this business is what they call ‘rare’.
